Previous collection experience in Credit Union, other financial institution, or collection agency is helpful. Basic knowledge of collection regulations and laws is helpful. Ability to speak and understand Spanish is also helpful. Ability to speak and understand Spanish is strong asset. Description: • Contact member by telephone and mail to determine reason for default and take appropriate action to bring account current. • Record Collection history on DART system. • Collect on returned checks. • Assign repossessions to the Repossession Agent when determined this is the correct action. • Prepare charge-off documents for mailing to outside collection agencies. • Make sure we collect deficiency balances after the vehicle is sold. • Conduct filing and maintenance on charge-off accounts. • Maintain repossession and bankruptcy laws. • Close lines of credit when necessary • Skip trace members when required. • Process and submit extension requests. • File gap claims when necessary. • File bankruptcy claims and reaffirmation when appropriate. • Request warranty insurance refunds from dealers on repossessions and insurance claims. • Direct members to CCCS for Debt Management when necessary. • Prepare and submit workout loans for liquidation of problem accounts. • Assign accounts to attorney to procure our collateral through court action. • Responsible for complying with the Bank Secrecy Act policies and procedures, including attendance at annual training, as directed by the Bank Secrecy Act Officer. • Perform other duties as necessary to ensure continuity of office operations and efficiency.
